“A Place Between: A 60’s Scoop Arts Project” Winnipeg MB

Please join us for a community meeting to introduce an upcoming arts project produced by Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery titled “A Place Between: A 60’s Scoop Arts Project” on Thursday, January 19 2017 from 7-9pm at Ka Ni Kanichihk at 455 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg Manitoba.

We are inviting dialogue with the public about this community issue of 60’s Scoop Survivors and children placed in care and are creating an arts initiative that includes twenty-four contemporary Indigenous artists who will be producing visual artworks, public art, performances, writing and films, in which they all describe a myriad of experiences of being forcibly removed from one’s family and to discuss the healing supports for such an experience. Our project scheduled to take place April 7 to May 6, 2017 and we are encouraging feedback about the project and issues we are discussing between now and the project kick off dates.

For more information please contact Director, Daina Warren atdaina@urbanshaman.org and Project Coordinator, Janell Henry ataplacebetween2017@gmail.com or please call the gallery at 204-942-2674.
